Modern Slavery Statement
Brent Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Brent Man and Van has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. Brent Man and Van provides man and van and related transport services, and we recognise our responsibility to operate ethically and transparently in everything we do.
Modern slavery is a severe violation of fundamental human rights. It can take various forms, including forced labour, human trafficking, servitude, child labour and other forms of exploitation. Brent Man and Van is committed to acting with integrity and implementing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery has no place in our business.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Brent Man and Van has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. This approach applies to all aspects of our operations, from direct employment practices to our relationships with suppliers, contractors and other business partners. We do not tolerate any form of forced, bonded or involuntary labour, and we expect the same high standards from those with whom we work.
Our zero-tolerance policy is communicated internally to all relevant workers and externally to suppliers and partners. We are clear that any breach of this policy may lead to the termination of contracts, removal from approved supplier lists, and, where necessary, reporting to relevant authorities.
Our Supply Chains and Supplier Audits
Our supply chains primarily involve the sourcing of vehicles, fuel, equipment, packing materials, and ancillary services that support our man and van operations. We recognise that risks of modern slavery can exist at multiple tiers within these supply chains, especially where labour-intensive processes are involved.
To address these risks, Brent Man and Van aims to work only with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical conduct. We carry out due diligence when onboarding new suppliers, which may include requesting information on their labour practices, policies, and any steps taken to prevent modern slavery. Where appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk, we may conduct supplier audits or request evidence of independent audits, certifications, or compliance checks.
These audits and assessments focus on working conditions, recruitment practices, use of labour agencies, and adherence to local labour laws. Where issues are identified, we seek corrective action and a clear improvement plan. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to address serious concerns, we will review and may ultimately end the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Brent Man and Van encourages the reporting of any concerns relating to modern slavery or human trafficking. We are committed to ensuring that all individuals who raise concerns in good faith are able to do so without fear of retaliation or negative consequences.
Concerns can be raised through existing internal reporting processes, including line management and senior management channels. Workers, contractors, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion of exploitation, unsafe or unfair working conditions, or practices that could indicate modern slavery. We will treat all reports seriously and investigate them promptly, taking appropriate action where necessary.
We also encourage suppliers to maintain their own confidential reporting mechanisms and to share with us any significant issues relating to modern slavery in their operations or supply chains. Collaboration and transparency are essential to identifying and addressing risks effectively.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
Brent Man and Van is committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and recruitment. We aim to provide training and guidance on recognising indicators of modern slavery and on the appropriate steps to take if concerns arise.
We understand that the risks of modern slavery can evolve over time. We therefore seek to learn from best practice, industry guidance and legal developments to strengthen our approach. This includes periodically reviewing our internal policies and supplier expectations to ensure they remain robust and effective.
Annual Review of this Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by the leadership of Brent Man and Van. The review considers changes in our business activities, developments in legislation, and any findings from audits, investigations or reported concerns.
As part of the annual review, we assess the effectiveness of our measures to prevent modern slavery and identify opportunities for improvement. Where necessary, we update our policies, procedures and training to enhance our efforts. The updated statement is then approved at a senior level and made available to stakeholders.
Brent Man and Van remains fully committed to continuous improvement in the prevention of modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chains, and to operating in a manner that respects and protects the rights and dignity of all people.
